Hi All,

Can anyone help with the above chap born 1878 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He apparently went to Australia. Where would I look to find out what happened to him. He is on the 1901 Census in Shrewsbury with his father Thomas Urwick Lowe.

Any tips would be gratefully accepted!

Kind Regards

Jane(Victoria is my first name)

No idea if this is your chap because his age isn't stated. He's a railway worker.

Any good?

Hi jane,

try some of these sites
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/indexes_online_3357.asp (state records)

http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/ResearcherScreen.asp (log on as a guest)

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalRecords.htm (new south wales bdm, do search now)

http://ryerson.arkangles.com/notices.php
(death & funeral notices nsw)

http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/ask/
(state library of new south wales ask a librarian service. they will do a online request to see if he was listed on the electoral roll. You need to give as much info and ask to search all states. But do note that not all immergrants enrolled so keep your fingers crossed)

Good luck, Louisa

Hi Deb,

Not sure if it is him or not but thank you so much for looking. It says he is an engine Machine filler on the 1901 census, so I would not rule him out. Does it say if he goes alone?

Many Thanks again

Jane

I've just viewed the original document and it looks like he came to Australia with a whole heap of other men to build railways. They were all railway workers and mostly Scottish. He's listed as a Scot so probably not your man after all.

Sorry
