can you get a death cert for soldier

Hello...I was able to send for my gr-grandads death cert without the GRO number.He died in Belgium in 1914...I knew his date of death and was able to send for his cert through the GRO site.You will be able to 'send for overseas deaths' and also opt for 'GRO number not known'...that's what I did.It cost £10.The cert didn't say a lot.In the cause of death column is simply says'Missing,presumed dead'. |

hi thanks i have looked on ancestry for his death to get a gro number but its not on there he died 28/9/1918 hooge belgium how do i go about ordering his cert without gro number . i have always had the number in the past when ordering certs. |

hi could anyone tell me if a death certificate would have been issued for a soldier who died in ww1. i know he is buried abroad in hooge cemetery belgium but wondered if you could get a death cert in the same way we can for other deaths |
