the gap between being born and a baptism

I have one getting baptised at the age of 15 - couldnt make it out as it was also well out of his parents residence area - THEN I found he had signed up to an apprenticeship with the new railways and I guess they required a baptism record as proof of age sort of thing (this was pre registration). I assume back then if you went to a church and swore your age then it was taken as "gospel". |

could there be a gap from being born to being baptised as my grt grt grt grandfather owen garvey born 1817 in ireland and a baptism of owen garvey in upper creggan armagh in 1821 if this is the same owen it tells me his parents james owen and elizabeth campbell and his brothers and sisters if any one can help please do thanks debbie |

i have a baptism in armagh upper creggin ireland that has a owen garvey he was born 1817 and the baptism is 1821 would there be such a gap from being born to being baptised all dates say abt this could be the family that gets my garveys placed in ireland as it gives owens parents as james garvey and elizabeth and brothers and sisters please help debbie |
