i have emailed the cemetery dept for leigh and wigan and given them the names and date of death and they have found me the grave told me who else is in there and who owned the grave. they gave me the grave plot and number and all this for the princley sum of £0 yes i said nothing now how is that for good service. |

its not fair how one council charges a lot more than others. i know i have been lucky but i really had expected to pay something if there was a one payment accross the country then i am sure people would make use of it and then councils would make some money |

Our cemetery office have been making rumblings for over a year about bringing in a charge. It's even listed on the leaflet of charges, but they don't have to enforce it and the lovely people who work there enjoy doing the look ups, they find it just as fascinating helping other people find their answers. |

Wakefield Council let you search on the site for free. You can search the registers and crem records. If you find a grave they will meet you to show you the plot. All for free!! |
