This thread is duplicated on Records.

Hannah, did you not check out the IGI on familysearch.org? Have you googled - as I said there are some interesting sites re the Booths in those areas.

I havent looked for a will no, how do you do that?

I have tried to look for a death cert for the mother but nothing came up, i will keep trying.

Thanks.

Does the possible mother disappear on the 1851? Have you looked for a death for her? It may be worth buying the death cert if so.

Did William marry or re-marry after 1837?

Have a google for Cheshire parish records - there are a number of hits which may be very useful for you. Also try googling for Booth genealogy and put in the towns/villages that you have gleaned above. (Ive just had a quick google and yep, there are some hits for them)

One other thing - to have a headstone (which I guess they had?) meant they had a reasonable amount of money. Have you tried looking for Wills?

Hello,
I have traced my grandfather's booth family line back to William Booth b.1801 astbury, cheshire area and he was married to a Mary (surname possibly lees) b.1791.
On the 1841 census there is a Sarah Booth living with William and Mary and she is 70 years old b.1771. I wondered if this was William's mother? - I cant seem to confirm this anywhere!

William and Mary's son, also named William b.1836 married a Martha b.1838 and they are buried in a family grave at astbury church. When i asked for the details at the church i found that there are other members of the family buried there.
They are,
Timothy Booth of Moreton Alcumlow 1678-1736
Also his wife elizabeth 1683-1755
and their daughters elizabeth and jane booth

So now i've got my booth line back to 1801, i am completely stuck, i cant seem to find anything about william and his wife mary.I cant work out who sarah is- is she williams mother? and if so who is his father?
And how does this all fit in with timothy b. 1678.

If anyone can help i would be very very very very grateful!!!

Thanks!

Hannah
