Of course, depending on when her birthday was and when her marriage date was, she may have been 21 anyway and not fibbing. |

well thanks for that judith and carol i hadnt thought of the obvious.with some of my rellies getting married as young as 16 it never dawned on me about them having their parents permission. so perhaps thats it. i have tried to find ann crosston and her family on the 1841 census and had no success. all i know is she was born c1831 either in westhoughton or hindley lancashire depending on which census you look at ( they are very close together ) her father was Peter Crosston occupation weaver cant find anythng on peter crosston |

Full age means able to marry without parents' permission - 21 or over in those days, (nowadays its 18). Don't think any proof of age was asked for so perhaps the lady in question told a white lie - could also be why they went to Lady Huntingdon's Connexion, which was a non conformist church (ie not conforming to the Church of England) and was part of the Methodist movement I think. Perhaps they thought the vicar in the parish church would know she was under age:-) |

i have received the marriage cert of my great great grandparents and it is bafling me a little. |
