I have exhausted my pc trying to find Matilda Latham brn 1824 birmingham on the 1841, 1851 census. Can find her fine from her marriage in 1852, but nothing before. Probs I have is her mother died when she was abt 18 months old, so could have been fostered out and a name change. At her marriage in 1852 she was 28, late in those days for a 1st marriage, so although she put down spinster on the cert I have she may not have been, although I cannot find an earlier marriage for her. It is really frustrating, can anybody else think of how her name may have been mistranscribed on these census |

Thanks Glitter, yes I have asked about her before. I think I have exhausted every angle. I have even plotted her aunts marriages in case she adopted there surnames but no luck. Just one of those things, but so frustrating |
