Hi,
I wonder if anyone can guide me in the right direction. I have an awkward person on my tree who I just cant seem to find out about. James Hill 1876 Warwickshire. We know he married because we have a photo of him and his wife and 2 children. Who he married and who his children were, is a blank. All we know is that he served in the Coldstreams in the Boar War, then went on to do something with the police. I just dont know where to start. Can anyone advise me please.

I've found a couple of James Hills on the 1881 census, both from Birmingham! Do you know who his parents were?

I have found him on 1881 and 1891 but just dont know which one he is in 1901. His parents were James and Celia.

Have had a look at that one too. But my father said his wife's father was a chief in the police.

I'm sure there was a mention a while back of a police officer's site - historical. Did I imagine that? Have you tried googling?
