Hi All, I am hoping that someone might be able to help me with looking for my gr gr grandfather. His name is William D Tollervey born abt 1850. I have found him on 1851 census as William Tellervey born in Reading Berkshire abt 1850 (this is him although the name is spelt incorrectly) I then have him marrying my gr gr grandmother in Henley in 1874 Q1 she is Alice Woodwards. I can then find my grandmother on 1881 census as Alice Tollervey living with her mother and niece and nephew in Henley. They have two children Alice Jane (29/10/1882) and William Dowling (1887). I then have my gr gr grandmother as a widow living with her son William and her daughter Alice and her husband William Heather in Reading on the 1901 Census. My gr gr grandfather had died 1893 in Q1. My question is where is my grandfather on 1861,1871,1881 and 1891 censuses? I have searched all ways of spelling his name Tollervey, Tellervey, Tolervey, Tellvey and Tollvey please someone help me Thank you Sara |

Have you got William's marriage certificate and if so what is his occupation? With his father's name being Horatio Nelson, there may be a naval connection, so William could be at sea in the other census years. Kath. x |

Thank you Peter this is fantastic. Yes it is possible with his father's name as Horatio that there is a naval connection and he was at sea but haven't found anything to prove this as of yet. But thanks again for the 1861 census result. Sara |
