Carol thanks so much for finding that in 1871, I've searched for ages. Another pair of eyes works wonders. I think sometimes we get a bit blinkered when looking for our own. Jennifer |

This is the family on the 1871 census, it would appear that the daughter's name is Minnie ! If you look at the 1861 image, you can see the possibility in the second part of the name. THURLBY, Thos Head M 57 Lincolnshire THURLBY, Lucy Wife F 57 Lincolnshire THURLBY, Minnie Daughter F 15 Middlesex PECK, Julia Niece F 28 Lancashire STREVENS, Hariet Servant F 30 Surrey RG number:RG10 Piece:43 Folio:68 Page:5 Registration District:Kensington Sub District:Kensington Town EnumerationDistrict:34 Ecclesiastical Parish: Civil Parish:Kensington Municipal Borough: Address: Cambridge Terrace (Lord Clyde Hotel), Kensington County: London, Middlesex Her birth was registered in Clerkenwell in the December quarter 1855 as Minnie Maud Thurlby - Ref. No. 1b 463 Perhaps it was that the enumerator's M's ooked like J's. Carol |

Jasmine is a good suggestion. I found the Minnie Maud born 1854 and wondered if they changed her name afterwards. The only marriage I cna find for Thomas and Lucy Thurlby is in 3Q 1857 Clerkenwell so if daug born 1854/5 it may have been registered under Adcock but haven't found that either. I have family in 1861 and then only parents in 1891 at a retired licensed victuallers asylum in Camberwell where they both die in their 80's Not found in between |

Kath that's what I thought but it seemed such a modern name for 1861. Thanks |
