no i haven't ordered birth certs yet, i found that looking for something else last night but couldn't find out about marriage. thiis is only my third night doing this and am still learning. I see your point though. as for my husbands grandfather i found out tonight that when he was born he was adopted illegally (by that i was told given away not to relatives), apparently he took there surname but it wasn't registered as far as we know. so he would of being registered under a different name. I haven't really got to that bit yet but thought i'd ask so when i get that far i will have an idea what i'm looking for. Thanks Kelly |

Sorry, but if you have ordered birth certs ok, what problems are you having with marriages and deaths? You get the GRO ref - try freebmd first for the event and then go to the GROonline site as given above, follow the instructions, pay your £7 same as for birth certs. Is there a specific problem you are having? When you say the adoption was 'illegal' ? Pre 1927 there were no official adoption procedures as we know them now. Children were just taken in my relatives or friends and became part of the family. |

Hi, Have you visited the General Register Office website. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ They do explain how you can obtain a birth, marriage or death certificate on line. They have a Frequentley Asked Questions section which should be helpful. I order most of mine from there. Hope this is of some help. Bye Paul |
