Does anyone know how to find out once and for all if a person you are researching was adopted at birth/as a small child? The person I am trying to research was born in 1890, I can't locate his birth certificate but I have got a copy of his marriage certificate. Thanks |

Official adoption didn't begin until the 1920's.........before that, private, informal arrangements were made. Is there anything on the marriage cert to suggest that his/her surname at the time was not his/her birth surname? Reg |
