Is it still possible to do this? I won't put his details on here as he is probably still living. I have full name and date and place of birth. I know you used to be able to trace people through the old DHSS but does anyone know whether it is possible to do it through their successors the Department of Work and Pensions? Any advice would be appreciated. Sheila |

I'm not absolutely certain of this but I don't think you can - something to do with Data Protection. Kath. x |

Hi Sheila I know Traceline do this through someone's NI number, they will not give you their address only agree to forward on a letter to them, and they charge I think it is about 25 pounds to search and the same to forward on a letter :O( Sheila |

We use this at work but we have to know the person's NI no. Try this website http://www.dwp.gov.uk/cru/lfs(.)asp although it does states its for company use. Jeannie |

Thanks for your responses. I have followed up the link given by one respondent and it appears there is no longer a facility for private individuals to do this. Insurance and pension companies are able to providing they keep within strict perameters. When one door closes another one slams in your face eh? Sheila |
