Could anyone assist me with a 1901 census look-up please. Looking for a Fred Robinson aged about 12 with a father called Samuel. Fred was the name he used on his marriage in 1812 which took place in Durham so he may have been born in the North East. On his marriage cert his father is shown as a miner. I can't find him in the 1891 census either. Many thanks Mike

This looks like him in 1891:- Name: Fred Robinson Age: 3 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1888 Relation: Son Father's Name: Samuel Mother's Name: Margaret Gender: Male Where born: Black Boy, Durham, England Civil Parish: Coundon Grange Ecclesiastical parish: St Marks Town: Auckland Park County/Island: Durham Country: England Street address: Occupation: Father is coal miner Condition as to marriage: Education: Employment status: View Image Registration district: Auckland Sub-registration district: Bishop Auckland ED, institution, or vessel: 17 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Brown Faerber 5 (image says Fairless - nephew) Charles Robinson 10 Fred Robinson 3 James Robinson 13 Kate Robinson 5 Margaret Robinson 41 Margaret A Robinson 21 Samuel Robinson 41 Samuel Robinson 8 Thomas Robinson 17 William Robinson 15 Source Citation: Class: RG12; Piece: 4069; Folio 100; Page 4 Although the image clearly states Black Boy as place of birth for several people on the page, I have never heard of this place (I was born County Durham) and think it much more likely to be Blackhall (another mining place), although you would need birth certificate to confirm. UPDATE - just found this birth registered in Darlington, which if it's the right one might mean that the Black Boy is actually Blackwell:- Name: Fred Robinson Year of Registration: 1883 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Darlington County: Durham, Yorkshire - North Riding Volume: 10a Page: 10 All information here only guesswork and would need checking thoroughly.
