Diane To order certs on line form the GRO for £7.00, you need to quote: Name Year Qtr Registration District Volume number Page number You also have to ensure that you 'check' the box where they ask 'are GRO refs known?' Reg |

Diane The cheapest place for all BMD certificates is the GRO www.gro.gov.uk With a name and ref. number they will be £7.00 if you order online, i belive there about £8.00 by phone, despatch date is usually about 6 days from ordering so if your lucky you`ll get them in a week. Don`t pay more than that I belive some sites charge up to £25.00!! Without a ref. number I think they can search for you, but obviously they charge extra for this. Nicky |

Yes birth certs will give the mothers name - if she is married it will give both her maiden name and her married name, fathers name and occupation and place of birth. |

I have a birth certificate from 1839 and 1847 and both have the mothers maiden name on them so the one you have sent for should have it on as well. Rebekah |
