The birth would have had to be registered. Have you looked in the GRO index? Was the child born before or after the mother married? Reg

He must of been registered before being adopted.You can only look in the adoption index by adoption name only. Annie

my grandmother gave birth to a son in west hartlepool and had him adopted, she never gave him a name, is there any way i can search adoption registers, and how can i access them. he was born 12.12 1943. my grandmothers married name was weaver and her maiden name was thomas. any help at all please , many thanks
