Thank you for all that information Benda. It has definately answered one question I had,,, What happened to little Joseph when his Father left... You could be right on the marriage as well, the one I got was Joseph Blackburn to Elizabeth Crosshend in Dec q 1838 at Wortley which is near Barnsley Vol 22 Page 647 Yes it looks as if you could have found the connection. I will start and study what you have given me. Christine

Brenda thank you for those dates... I got from the index that Elizabeth had died in Dec Q 1850 but now you have given me the date. As for the Joseph's one of those could be the right one and it could prove something that I thought, you see according to the story in South Yorkshire Times where a lot of the information on Mark (2) came from, his father moved away for work but I am sure I have found him on 1861, 1871 census with another Wife in Rotherham.... Thanks Margaret I think the Marc you have b. 1878 could possibly be my Mark (2) nephew, Mark had a brother named Joseph b. 1850 so that could possibly work out. I know my mark (1) parents were John and Mary so at the moment can't see where John and Hannah come in. I know the Blackburn's are a big family with a lot of branches which makes things even harder. Thanks for trying to help Christine

Thank you for that, This is the problem I had, I was expecting to find Joseph with Father John and Mother Mary. I could not even find Mark (1) I even thought perhaps it could have been Barnsley he was born but could not find him there either. Thanks for looking Christine

Hi to everyone :-) I am hoping someone can help / advise me on a problem. On my hubby's tree he has a Mark Blackburn b. 1806 in Wombwell Barnsley South Yorkshire. His Father was John Blackburn b. c1756 in Yokshire, Marks Mother was Mary Jessop b. c1760 Darfield Barnsley South Yorkshire. A friend who has a link to the family has found a Mark Blackburn b 1847 in Barnsley area South Yorkshire, his Father was Joseph Blackburn b. c1812 Rotherham South Yorkshire, his Mother was Elizabeth Crosshend b c1811 Rotherham. Now my problem :-/ We know there is a link between the two Mark's but can't find it. Mark (2) Mother died when he was 3 years old and his Father who was a Cooper by trade left when he was 7 years old. I have found him with his Father on 1851 census on 1861 he is a Boarder and on 1871 he is a Boarder again but with his Aunty Mary Beaumont. This is where the connection to the other Mark comes in!!!!! The Beaumonts come into the family as Mark (1) married Hannah Beaumont b 1808 Elsecar Barnsley. What we are thinking is that Mark (2) Father Joseph is Mark (1) Brother but we cannot find them on IGI or anywhere else to prove it. Help someone PLEASE Christine
