I have a HP printer that has got an error. It is coming up showing error 1706. Basically i can still print from scanning something, I can also print from a web-site or an e-mail but i cannot scan and send by e-mail and i seem to have lost all my photos. Plus i am getting all these little annoying boxes come up. I have printed off a page from HP telling me how to cure the problem, but i cant understand what they are telling me to do. i.e. right click Start and then click explorer. -OK with that) Locate and select CR-ROM drive letter that contains the software CD-ROM (What does that mean?) CD-ROM stands for Compact Disk - Read Only Memory. Basically, it means where you put your CDs. If you click on My Computer, it should list all the drives you have. The main one is C. Your CD will be something like D, E or F. It should also have a little picture of a CD next to it. |

havent got an HP printer so not really in the position to give advise but the CD Rom thing seems to be the disc drive that you put the CD in for the printer when it was installed. have you still got the installation discs It may have all gone belly up and you cant correct but it may work if you uninstall & then reinstall the printer. Ron Neil may be able to give you better advice. Shirley |
