Hi Margaret, Sorry i did not get back to you sooner. I think it is a different John. Although not quite sure now. I was just hoping that there would be a link to one of my ancestors, but it does not look like there is now as this John died at the age of 24. I was hoping that he would turn out to be my ellusive g grandfather. But he died when he was 75. Many thanks for your help. Julie

Hi Jim, I have just found a death for John Henry Sparrow registered in 1907. So After all that, it has turned out to be yet another red herring. As the John i am looking for died at the age of 75. Thanks again Jim. The mind boggles now!!! Why was her son registered as John H Sparrow and not Clifton when he was apparently born in 1883 aged 8 in the 1891 census. Very strange indeed! I was hoping i could un veil a Sparrow-Preston. What do you think? Best wishes Julie

Hi Jim, I have posted on your other thread.many thanks i think you have hit the nail on the head. Looking at others on the page.. it looks like Hannah had a son out of wed lock,which is what i was looking for. The thing i have got to work out now is could the father have been a Preston? Hi Scarlett, Her middle inital was 'M' That is all i know. On the 1871 census, Sparrow was misread as Spannow. Thanks Julie

did she have a second name that should could be known by?

I am trying to find a census return for 1881 - 91 and 1901 for a Hannah Sparrow, born in Hatton, Rutland. She was born in 1863 and her Parents were Govine Sparrow and Charlotte Sparrow. I have found her with her parents in 1971 but cannot trace her after that.. She would have been 18 years old in 1881.. so she could possibly have married.. which i cannot seem to find a record for either. Any help would be gratefully recieved.. Many thanks Julie
