I am trying to find the age of a man found on an electoral list. He first appeared locally in 1925 and was shown as George Henry James BURROWS..... In 1928 Yvonne Juliette BURROWS is recorded there too......A child was born at that address in 1928 with them shown as parents..... BUT....in 1940 Yvonne married someone else, said she was a spinster and George BURROWS is shown as her father....... Can anyone help please?

I dont believe ages are shown on the roll, are they? Even if they were there is no saying a man of say 50, couldnt be the father or the husband of Yvonne. The best bet would be to get the birth cert of the child for the names of the parents or you could look for a marriage or a birth of Yvonne I think ??? Have you tried finding them in 1901 when I take it (hopefully!) Yvonne was a child - do you have her age? Unusual name for then, worth looking under Burrows or just doing a first names check for the area.

Could Yvonne not be the name of one of their children as well? so the child born in 1928 was Yvonne juniors younger brother or sister?, and the Yvonne who got married just had the same name as her mother? Just a thought Nicky

Thanks for your thoughts Heather and Nicky. This is not my family but I am trying to help as some of the events are local to me. Yvonne was said to come from France .... Neufchatel was mentioned and on the 1928 birth is shown as BURROWS formerly LETTELLIER. ...The child's father George BURROWS registered the birth the following day. The births of her next two children( surname NICHOLLS) show her maiden name as LATTELLIER and on one she signs as Yvonne Burrows, formerly Lattellier. Both her and Mr Nicholls were present at the registration of their two children. When she married James Nicholls she was shown as 35 but died aged '50' in 1961. I am trying to establish whether George and Yvonne were roughly the same age. I doubt that he was her father. Gwyn
