Hi Has anyone had a look at Family Tree Maker 2008, if you google for it it comes up with Ancestry.Com and you can download a beta version to try before you buy. Takes about 20 - 30 minutes to download on broadband, so might be a bit longer on slower machines. I have had a quick look but it looks very different to the earlier versions, and a lot more impressive. Take a look Marilyn

Hi, I spotted this on the US site the other day but when I looked on the UK site it wasn't mentioned so I assumed it wasn't available here yet. Having said that I think the only difference would be that the US one would default to US sites for searching etc.

The trial version does not appear to have all the features enabled. It is however a completely new program and bears little resemblance to the earlier versions.

If you google Family Tree Maker 2008 it gives a couple of places to download it, Family Tree Maker Site and Ancestry*com, on both sites it just says try before you buy by downloading a beta version. From what I have tried of it so far, Peter is right, not all of the features are enabled, and it is quite a lot different than the earlier versions, but at least it gives you an idea, off to have another play with it now before I go back to work.
