Wonder if anyone can help out there. Ive got a Great Aunt who travelled to Canada where she married in 1913. Shes not on any passenger lists. My first thought was that she travelled under a false name but I now know she was a Domestic Servant as at 1901. Could she have travelled with her employer and if so, did they have to provide her name for the list? Would she have just been known as 'companion' or 'maidservant'? Another thought I had was; was she a staff member on the ship? How could I find out from a list? Is there such a thing? I would appreciate any thoughts from anyone on this please. |

Hi Jo, Fancy meeting you here!!! I think they listed everybody but all the lists I looked at only gave passengers names not anyone who worked on the ship. Linda P.s I am still looking |

Hi Linda. Whats happening! Are we stalking each other on threads tonite!!! Seriously tho, I didnt know what else to try and the domestic servant travelling with employer thingy was the only other option I could think of. One suggestion was she was a servant who had an 'on board romance' with the chap she ended up marrying. Bit like the Titanic film with a happy ending isnt it? Thanks for your continued efforts tho Linda. |
