Joyce, An idea for you ... the address where he died might have been a hospital/nursing home ... big houses were often used in that way, weren't they. That would explain why he had another address. Regs Annie PS: If he's in a Commonwealth War Grave, then maybe he died of injuries ...

The address on a death cert is where they died, which may not necessarily be where they lived. Janice

have just had reply back about my grandfather they couldnt tell me who made the arrangements but the address for my g.father was different from the one on his death cert,can any one tell me why,thank you

just had information back from cemetery my grandfather was the owner of the grave ,so have just emailed the lady to ask if she knew who buried him joycex

yes that good be quite possable as they had aservant as on my g.grandparents grave there servant is buried in it also

someone took aphoto of the house for me its still standing but behind it is army place so i thought it might have been used for army persnal

The possibilities are endless. The two that spring to mind are 1. He could have been a lodger at that address 2. The address could have been that of an institution i.e. Hospital, Convalescent home etc I have the same problem with my ggrandfather, his death was registered by an Alice Murphy. I've come to the conclusion that as he died in the French Hospital and is believed to have been Catholic she was either an irish nurse or nun who was present at the death.

Camberwell New Road is a main road - it runs from Camberwell Green to the Oval. There are some big houses along there so they could have been subdivided with separate households living there. Jenny could have been the neighbour or even a servant.

Do you mean which Undertaker, or who paid for the plot ?? If you mean undertaker, then if you should look in the local paper for his funeral notice - in Australia, it usual gives the name of the funeral director. If you mean who paid for the plot, then the place of burial (church or cemtery trustees, maybe local council) should have a record of who purchased the plot. Diane
