Since GR started leaving out any mention of a middle name, the situation is much worse. My JONES didn't go in for unusual names and my ancestor, Jane Jones b.abt 1807 had siblings, William, Mary and James. I've only managed to follow Jane so far and that was largely due to a second marriage in 1857, which meant I found out her father's name. I have a completely different Jones family in Southampton mid 1800s and they are a nightmare to track. I know nothing yet about what happened to the 5 surviving siblings of my great grandmother..... Something I hope to find in Winchester R.O. next month. Gwyn

I have Smiths but they were fairly easy to track as most of them have middle names.

Not only do i have Jones.....i have Roberts, Davies and Williams!! The only other surname i have is Brown and that was my grandmother who was born in Ireland but no one knows where!! So i have Jones' marrying Roberts, Williams marrying Davies, Davies marrying Jones and so on .... you get the picture. As for getting matches off here... nigh on impossible - you can imagine the pages that i get!!
