I have just received a marriage certificate for George Archimedes Searle and Susan White in 1853. It gives the occupation of George at Lt 35 Madras Foot. And the fathers are Charles Searle Surgeon 4 E.I.C.R. and Thomas White 4 E.I.C. Civil Service. The marriage was at Eton. Can someone please help work out what 4 E.I.C.R. is. I think it is 4 East Indian Company Regiment but which one. Thanks for the help . Heather |
