I have not long joined up to GR and have managed to get contact with two ancestors but i am struggling to know what to do next. I have managed to get a lot of my information from these two contacts but how do i go about researching myself??? I know that it sounds stupid but i am stuck!!! whare can i go for informatin, are there any good free infromation sites? please any tips would be greatly appreciated |

Hi, If you know the name of one member in a marriage and the first or second name of the other then you can use. www(.)freebmd(.)org(.)uk to find the other member *remove the brackets first* This site can also be used to find births and deaths. If you believe you may have criminals in the family (you'd be suprised) in Warwickshire then this site will help you locate them. warwickshire.gov.uk/corporate/prisoner.nsf/By%20Crime? You could also try contacting local cemetries and trying to find the graves of people in your family as this can sometimes help you locate other members mentioned on the head stones. The 1881 census is free on both Ancestry and the LDS website. Some bmd reg'n info is on the freebmd site......but it covers only up to about 1911, and isn't yet complete for even those years. Reg |
