LOL! Peopke should always check the actual image in Ancestry too, its amazing how many times the printed info that comes up is inaccurate. I nearly missed my rellies when I first started, it said Sophia was married to John. I thought well thats not mine then. I am bitterly disappointed. Surely a familiar is a friendly sort of ghost isn't it? Much more interesting than on ordinary fruitier! C

Looking to see if I could find William Spain & his family as per the request and I came across an entry in the 1861 census as follows: Surname Spaul Forename William Age 28 Relation Head Occupation Familiar Employing Boys & Girls Birth Place Hevingham, Norfolk Address 10 1 2 The Terrace, Kensington RG9/0016/~F53 What the hell was a 'Familiar' ?? I can't find anything on the old occupations site, does it mean he was familiar with boys and girls ????? L Update: This was the transcription from the 'Genealogist' goes to show you should check as many sources as possible. Although it might be better to be called 'Familiar' rather than 'Fruit'!!!! LOL L
