Hello there! I've just been emailed to renew my membership of Genes Reunited and have been quoted £9.95 for six months. I'm sure I remember reading here recently that it was £9.95 for 12 months. Am I going mad? Did I see that? or has the price always been £9.95 for six months? Lesley |

Apparently it depends on how you have your account set up with GR. If you have continuous membership it is £9.95p for 12 moonths (it was for me in January at least). If you have annual membership it is £9.95p for 6 months. If you let your membership lapse and then renew it is £9.95p for 6 months. Personally I can't see the difference between annual and continuous. Kath. x |

So if I change it to continuous now (it doesn't expire until August 12) I should then be offered the 12 months for ten quid deal? Ooh! |

Well, would you believe this? I asked Support about renewing membership and they told me this: 'Thanks for your email Lesley, As you paid £9.95 for 6 months membership, then if you renew you will pay £9.95 for a further 6 months. Members who receive a year's membership for £9.95 have been ongoing members for some time' So new members pay twice as much as older members. I don't think that's very fair and I told them so. There's absolutely no advantage in being a continuous member because there is no discount for doing so. I won't be paying until the very last minute, and I may not pay at all if I can find somewhere else that can host my tree. I'm a bit miffed to say the least. |

I agree with you - I'd be miffed too. I'm lucky that I have been a continuous member for more than 4 years now, but even I can see that to have a two tier payment system isn't very fair. I think GR would be better giving a small discount for being continuous (it gives people an incentive to stay as a member), but charging others double is ridiculous. There are other places to host your tree - Tribal Pages has a free option I think. Kath. x |
