This is the only James T. Chapman that I can find on the 1901 census with a wife called Florence and a son called William. However your great grandparents may not have been married in 1901 so there is no evidence that this is your family. I think your best bet is to go through the complete index of marriages starting from when your grandfather was born and work backwards. Depending on how old your great grandparents were when your grandfather was born, they could have already been married for up to 20 years (or even more) before he was born. Kath. x

I am looking for my great grandparents with no luck. If anyone has any ideas of something else I could try the only information I have is below; My grandfather CHAPMAN, JAMES THOMAS (b.1912 West Ham). On his birth cert. it says Father: CHAPMAN, JAMES THOMAS, ships fireman Mother; CHAPMAN, Florence formerly SAVILL. I know my grandfather had a brother 'Bill' who is presumably William but no idea if older or younger. I can't find any further information, no marraige records, no census info. Any ideas where I could look?
