I have my phone with talktalk and, because they have merged with AOL, have been asked if I'm interested in changing my broadband provider to them. If anyone has aready done so, I would appreciate your comments, good or bad. I'm with Tiscali at the moment. Many thanks, Lilian

I have the Talktalk 3 package, upto 8meg broadband and free national telephone calls etc, and have had no problems. You say that they've merged with AOL ........................that really worries me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt know they had merged?? Ive had talktalk for years for my phone and since the first month when they offered broadband for a tenner or free and apart from a few glitches Ive been very pleased with them. AOL is a known pain, I hope it doesnt cause problems.

Just googled and found carphone warehouse has bought AOL and carphone own talktalk. Its all happening in September. On top of that AOL are offering a FREE laptop if you sign up to broadband with them for a two year contract! http://shop*carphonewarehouse*com/show_aol_laptop_splash.php

I don't know enough myself to make a reasoned judgement, but my son, who knows what he's talking about would never recommend AOL as it's completely different from all other ISP's. He thinks it's a pain and would never use it. Oh - and he reckons the laptop will be rubbish at the price they are charging for signing up with them for two years. Kath. x

Mowerman, they havent merged yet - not til September. AOL is known to be a real pain and if it affects my talktalk3 I shall certainly be moving. Martin Lewis' money saving expert site may give more info. Yes, re the laptop - if you can get talktalk for a tenner a month and AOL I find is charging double that then in two years you would have paid for the laptop! If you are one of 70% of talktalk customers who get broadband for zilch then it definitely wouldnt be any point!

Carphone Warehouse won the auction back in October 2006 to buy the UK's third-largest internet provider, AOL UK. They paid about £370 million for it. My Talktalk home page changed to AOL Talktalk a few months ago. Keith

I am with TalkTalk for my phone and AOL for my broadband and I have to admit I have never had problems with either. Cheers Marie
