Trying to find out more about where my dad grew up. They lived in the house in the grounds of the Old Abbey, MONKBRETTON PRIORY near Cundy Cross, Barnsley. His mother Martha (Dawson nee Ball) had T.B and was in a hospital in LUNDWOOD which was nearby. I've heard stories of how she would sneak home to see her children. Is there anyone from the Barnsley area that could possibly recognise the family details, even if not related and point me in the right direction???? I live on the IOW and don't know anything about the area and have really hit a brick wall! Any help HUGELY appreciated |
