Why Do They Do It???

I always considered it a genealogy sin to abbreviate dates - ie use numbers instead of months etc. So why, when I upload my tree, which gives all dates in full, does this site convert them to all numbers?

that's a good question, especially as us in the UK put the date before the month were-as the Americans put the month first for example 9/11 if that had been my birth date i'd put it as 11/9. So you'd think that for this reason months would be in written form to ensure no mix-up's. Martin

It's particularly hard for us Canadians because we're caught in between Americans and Brits, so we never know if it's day/month or month/day! Margaret
