My G G Grandfather & family (James & Mary A Wilkinson) are clearly listed on the 1881 census - RG11/4898 155 15. They are also listed on the 1901 census - RG13/4623 152 9. But I cannot find the family on the 1871 & 1891 census . . . . can anyone please help? They must be somewhere !

I've found this with some of my rellies, However it could just be something simple as they were out visiting friends when the census came round but left before they went to the friends house. However it could be that they didn't want the authorities to know as they may have been trying to avoid taxes or something simular??

Hi Folks, Many thanks for your help, it certainly looks like the family . . . . . I just don't believe it, I can't understand why I couldn't see them! However, the only discrepancy is on the 1871 census which states that wife Mary A was born in Yorkshire, Bradford, all the other census returns say Darlington, which is in Co. Durham !
