thaks maureen for your help once again i cant seem to get any further than that. i have been on scotlands people and spent a fortune trying to find them in 1851/41 and birth and marriage records. i cant find a marriage for john cruickshank to margaret McFinlay anywhere i cant find ann's birth. one of those mystery families yet again. i think i am collecting them thanks linda

just looking again at 1861 there is a william hope might be coincidence but one of the witnesses at ann and thomas's marriage was a janet hope ? the other was a john hall

Was really hoping to find her parents on 1851 by using occupation of father but not got a match. Have you got the couple on a later census. Maureen
