Good Morning--- can you please adivse me how to delete access to other peoples tree that seem to pop up . Some very nice people have 'opened their trees' to me because we have names and dates that match, but in fact are nothing to do with me. I have a few very common names in my tree, and when Hot Matches arrive, I have 4 or 5 pages of them, not that I mind much, but I would like to get rid of the ones that do not belong to me sheila |

You can't actually remove access to someones else's tree, they have to do that. However if you delete the contact it will disappear from your list. However if either of you make contact in the future, it will pop back up again. |

Hi Sheila, As Peter says and you can also do the following; In the 'Hot Matches Summary' click in each of the 'Don't Show Me These Again' box and click on the 'Save' box at the bottom of the page. And then, go to your 'Contacts' page and click on the 'Can They See Your Tree ?', click on the 'X' and also click in the next box which is the dump box and then click save at the bottom of the page. It's worth checking your 'Contacts' page regularly to ensure who is and who is not allowed to see your tree. If they've allowed you access to their's, don't worry about it, that facility will be gone when you delete them. Might take a few minutes to do but at least you'll only see what you want to see. The nice people probably dont even know you have access! GR has still not sorted the glitch which gives all and sundry access to your tree without your knowledge. Trouble is your tree is also as vulnerable as theirs - it could be opened to many people without your knowledge. Ive removed my tree completely from here but I am still getting emails from people saying they have given me access to their trees. I can see every detail, even their personal ones yet I have no connection to them, they could not have seen any connection because my tree is not on here and when I contact them to tell them I have been given access they are shocked. When will GR sort out this really awful security problem. |
