More than useful, I pay by direct debit every three months, which works out fine for me as a Senior Citizen. Not paying a great lump out all at once. |

Thankyou for the replies. I need to join Ancestry as you all seem to find it very useful. |

Friends and family are sometimes shocked to find what my annual Ancestry subscription is! However even they soon see that it would cost at least that much just for ONE visit and overnight stay to go to an Archive in a county that my ancestors come from. I obviously visit Archives too, but I can do much of the 'donkey work' and more with Ancestry. Anne |

Frank - I can't think of any way of spending so little to get so much - and 24 hours a day for 365 days a year!! Victoria |

I have full Ancestry UK subscription and I've been able to track releatives through different houses they have lived in and been intrigued by how close their hubands/wives lived as children by looking at all the census pages of a particular village/area. My rellies often married neighbours of their married siblings who had moved to the next village. I find its helped me to understand a bit more about the social circumstances my rellies lived in. I would't be without it Jo |

It really is very difficult to do your family research without having a subscription to ancestry! There is so much. They have very census from 1841 to 1901, and will have the 1911 after it is released in 2011/2012. I don't know of any other site that has so much all in one place! |

I have subscribed to BMDindex and they have censuses (not1901),bmds,directories etc. Unlike the general National Archives search which gives info on a name and date only, one can only look up the county . So if that isn't known it can be expensive to trawl through. What other info does Ancestry hold? Wendy Stroud Thankyou for the response. I think I need to join, as it is obviously full of good things to look up. |
