Have had a marriage certificate in the post this morning which confirms that my Great Great Great Grandmother had been married before and then had another family with my GGGGrandfather.......... Confusion was because she never married him..........so the childrens birth certs. had the name she had as 'formerly' was actually her first married name and not the maiden name... .....Marriage Certificate received today was her third child by her husband and not only does it give her address as the one living with the family on the 1871 census but my GGGGrandad was a witness....Sorry to blab on but I am so excited and no one else here cares............ lol...............Linda |

Well I am thrilled for you. As excited as when you were kind enough to find Nellie setting off for Fremantle, for me!! Well done! Victoria |

I know the feeling so well! I'm jumping up and down and my friends have a sort of glazed eyes 'interested' fixed smile! Sound like a breakthrough discovery...well done. Joan |

Gleaning so much information from one certificate really does justify the £7 spent. How do people manage without buying certificates? Guesswork perhaps. |

Hi Linda, Know how you feel. I ordered the certs of my great grandmothers first and second marriages and the witnesses at both marriages were the same. This led me down a path that I would not have had any idea existed, to find that great granddads mother was related to the male witness, and his wife, who was the other witness, was related to great grandmothers mother. Do you get it ???? It is difficult but looks better on paper. Kathlyn |

My OH doesn't share my enthusiasm either. He often remarks that the living are just as important as the dead, to which I reply, I know darling, but not half as interesting! |
