you can go to http://www.sweffling.org.uk/genealogy.htm which has a bit of intro and then select 1861 Missing Pieces. I suspect you can not find ancestors because the record has been lost. Clive |

Hello, please can anyone help me find a family in the 1861 Census? Here is what I have found for 1851:- Address: 18 Collingwood Place, Stepney Robert Leader, 33 - head Sophia Leader, 32 - wife Robert Leader, 10 - son Frances Leader, 5 - dau Jesse Leader, 2 – son I believe Jesse died in 1851 as I found a matching death on Freebmd. I found Frances Leader in 1871 – married name Catlin. But where she is in 1861 I don’t know. Robert, Sophia & son Robert seem to all disappear forever after 1851. A Robert Leader died in Shoreditch, 1851 – perhaps that was father or son. I thought maybe Robert snr had died and Sophia remarried, but I can’t find a subsequent marriage for her. Her maiden name was Sibley, place of birth Belgium, if that’s any use. Please can someone have a fresh look for me? Many thanks. |
