Sorry to be a pain again, I am just trying to tie up a few lose ends and have hit a brick wall on this one. Samuel Crabtree born c1836, Moss Side, Manchester married Sarah Alletson 21st February 1867 at St. Chad's, Rochdale. I can find no record of these two after their marriage entry, can anyone help please? Sarah was born c1838 in Littleborough/Rochdale. Many thanks Helen

Hi keith, Thank you for taking the time to look, it is much appreciated. I am not sure though whether this is my Samuel and Sarah, both their birth places are different to what they should be, but I do know that happens on census returns, I am not sure how I can find out if this is them or not. But many thanks anyway Helen

I am just wondering if they emigrated.

Hi Helen, afraid I cannot see any others, they seem to have disappeared as you say. What occuption did Samuel give on his marriage certificate? It may be possible to track him by occupation. Also when where children born? Any sign of them on census?

Hi Keith, Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, kids playing up again! I haven't got a copy of the marriage certificate the marriage was taken from a film at Rochale library and his occupation at the time of the marriage was a labourer, so nothing special there! As I haven't found them after their marriage entry, I am afraid I have no idea if there were any children. How could I check if they emmigrated? I am off out for an hour now, but will check the board when I return. Many thanks for your help Keith, it is much appreciated. Helen

I'm pretty sure that the place of birth for the Samuel that Keith found in 1891 has been mistranscribed by Ancestry. I think Ohwich, Lancashire is actually Church, Lancashire, which is on the outskirts of Accrington and near to Blackburn. Kath. x

It might be worth getting the marriage certificate to find out Samuel's father's name as there are only these two births in Lancashire in 1836 +/- 2 years on the IGI. Both have the same parents so it would seem that the first Samuel died and the next child was called Samuel too:- SAMUEL CRABTREE Pedigree Male -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: 11 FEB 1836 Christening: 20 MAR 1836 Church, Lancashire, England Death: Burial: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parents: Father: FOX CRABTREE Family Mother: NANNY AND THIS ONE:- SAMUEL CRABTREE Pedigree Male -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: 24 APR 1837 Christening: 16 JUL 1837 Church, Lancashire, England Death: Burial: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parents: Father: FOX CRABTREE Family Mother: NANNEY If the father of your Samuel has a different name then you can discount the one in 1891. The nearest birth for a Samuel Crabtree other than the two above is in 1831 or 1840. Kath. x

Thanks Kath and Keith, Samuel's father was John Crabree and the address for Samuel at the time of his marriage in 1867 was Moss Side Manchester, it thats any use at all. Cheers Helen
