Thank you Paul, This is the worst brickwall I have encountered so far!! Also thanks for the other thing you have 'volunteered' for!!! I have received a Griffiths Valuation for Brown in Limerick and it only serves to add more confusion as there are so many of them!! Margaret |

Hallo again Margaret, As far as I know, the marriage is registered in the District in which it took place. In the case of those abroad, I am unsure but believe that it was added to the Husband's District. I know someone will correct me if I am wrong. (And I have not forgotten about the other bits either, I will do it when I can) Paul |

Thanks Paul, So do I take it that I should be able to find on any marriage index ie Ireland or England, or will it just be Ireland if they married there and England if they married there!!!!! So far not luck. Margaret |

Just the same as on the Mainland (as we call it at times). In most cases the marriages are recorded at the end of the indexes. Sometimes you may find that it is not recorded until the next quarter or later. Send me the details, and I will try to look for you the next time I am in the local LDS (When that will be is anybody's guess) Paul |

Hi, If both were British citizens then the marriage will be on the GRO index, even if it took place abroad. The marriages abroad are at the end of each section of the GRO. Hope this helps, Gwynne |

Can any one tell me how I can go about checking marriages carried out whilst the groom was in the Army during the yrs 1910/12. The groom was in the Yorks and Lancs regiment, but I don't know if he joined for the war or was already serving. Sue |
