I might not explain this very well, but here goes. You can always check in your Norton handbook. Double click on the norton icon.at the top it says Options. click on that and then internet security. click the web content tab at the top. click on add site, at the bottom. add the address for freebmd without the http\\ bit and don't put any back slashes on it either. highlight the address when you have added it and on the global settings tab, on the second one down, information about visited sites, click permit. click ok. that should work. I had to do this and I found the info on the symantec website. but, I can't find it now. As I said it's in the manual I would think. Just one thing, I have Norton Security 2003. I don't know if all versions are the same, but they can't differ much Margaret |

I remember clicking onto something on bmd which gave instuctions how to allow bmd on with norton firewall. I have tried it again since I reloaded computer and it will not do it. I would be very grateful for any advice. Thanks Helena |

I've not got Norton now, but had it up until a month or so ago. If I remember correctly you go into advanced options, add freebmd to the list of sites and tick "permit referencing". |

Andrew Thanks for your advice. I also have to turn off Norton for BMD. I did try turning off Add blocking and privacy but still no good. I did have a good access again after turning off Norton firewall. Any more ideas as I am not happy about turning off my firewall. |

Andrew - sorry, please could you explain further? I'm usually failrly computer literate but am completely flumoxed (is that how you spell it?!) by Norton. Have gone into the Firewall and found Privacy Control but am unsure how to turn it OFF. Do you mean change it to LOW? And where do I find Add Blocking? |

To use access free BMD without turning off Norton Internet Security, switch Privacy Control and Add Blocking to OFF, this should stop the BMD error messages but still give you intrusion protection. |

Oh! Well, I still can't get on - with or without my firewall. Which reminds me, can anyone give me an idiots guide of how to set Norton firewall up so that I can access freeBMD without switching the firewall off? Unless I switch the firewall off, which considering the length of time I am on line when climbing my Tree is probably not a good idea, I cannot do any searches. I just get a message saying something like my computer isn't communicating with theirs... |
