Thanks Jan, I will try the council and see if that brings any joy. Joan |

The 1837 will give you the District in which her death was registered. I would contact the appropriate local council and ask for their cemetaries department, they may be able to help you. Jan. |

She would presumably have provided her own age at marriage so that can be relied upon but obviously someone else, not necessarily with correct knowledge, would have provided age at death which could explain the difference. I was just reading about the 'roundings' in census ages as well - this was on the Census UK site which is a mine of information. Janet |

Ages are unreliable. Great granddad was born in 1859 (I've got the cert.) but was 19 on the 1881 census. By 1901 he was 47. |

Ages vary so much from census to census and certificate to certificate. My great grandfather was 22 on his marriage certificate in 1877, and 23 on his death certificate in 1880. I don't think age was as important to them as it seems to be to us now, so a lot of variations do occur. The names are exactly right in your case, if the area where she died is right too, I personally would feel inclined to overlook a mere 4 years age difference. Jan. |

Please can anyone tell me how I might confirm that I have found the right person. I have a Maud Mary Baldry nee Fairhead who is age 3 in the 1881 census and in the 1901 was age 23 she married in 1899 and age was given as 22. I have found a Maud Mary Baldry on the 1837 site whose date of death was given as 1958 and she was aged 84. Maths is not my strong subject but I think this makes a difference of approx. 4 years. Could this be the right one? Thanks Joan. |
