Max I am going on holiday on Thursday for two weeks, so if you very kindly find anything either then or later, could you save it till I come back? Many thanks, Kathyxx

Max EDWARD GOWLAND CASEY (his full name) Thanks for that - I too think think it was an error and that he had already died. If its not too much trouble for you to look up his death, it would be greatly appreciated. I know how much you have done already for others. As I mentioned the last child born was James age 5 in 1891 (d.o.b c1886), so death of Edward Gowland Casey born 12th Jan 1840 would probably have occurred between 1886 and 1891. The family had been living in Cheshunt, Herts since 1881 so his death would probably have been in Cheshunt too. Many thanks, Kathyxx

Max, Thanks for checking it out for me, anyway. He wasn't on the 1901 census either, so perhaps he had died, and the enumerator had put M instead of W for widow. Guess I should look for his death. Kathyxx

My gt-gt-grandmother, Mary Casey and family all appear together on the 1891 census but there is no sign of Edward Casey, her husband. Mary states she is Married, so he must be somewhere. He would be 50 in 1891 - too old to have gone off to war. If he were in hospital, would it show on the census? Kathy
