Does anyone know if the Settlement Certificates are on line anywhere? Does anyone have access to them? If not , does anyone know where I can find them? I'm looking for them for Northants, mid 1700's, and for Hertfordshire, 1807 to 1832. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I'm in Vancouver area, which limits my access somewhat! Di.

Hi Diana, There are none online as far as I know. Many haven't survived but those that have are held in County record offices. Some have been indexed, but not all. The LDS have filmed Poor Law papers for many parishes it may be worth checking their catalogue to see if they have filmed the parish you need. Other than that you may have to hire a local researcher to find the ones you need. Hope this helps a little, Gwynne

Thanks Gwynne, I'll try the LDS and then contact the record offices. Di.
