Think this must be your other Joseph Living at Wells Villa, which looks like it is in Essex Road, Enfield,Middlesex (which isn't a million miles from Finchley) Joseph W Barker age 25 civil engineer born Whitby Yorks Louisa S? Barker age 24 born Bradford (looks like Mauldell) Emily (can't read surname) age 15 General servant born Stevenage Herts Lynda |

Thanks for that Lynda, Bell Cayley Barker was the mother of Joseph Huggins Barker. Bell married her first cousin once removed - Barker William Barker (strange name don't you think). It's quite a tangled web of inter-marriages - with that one being only one of many. Thankfully I have a third couisn once removed who has done a lot of the research already. Could you find the son Joseph any where? Paul |

Paul Your family were living at 18, Cavendish Grove Millbrook Shirley. Joseph was now a retired solicitor, but the younger Joseph was not there, but the other children were. There is also listed Bell C Barker mother (widow) age 80, living on own means. Hopefully another generation found for you. By the way there were 2 servants, let me know if you want there names. lynda |

I found this family on the 1881 Census living at Millbrook Road, Thorncliff, Hampshire. Could someone please do a look up on the 1891 Census? Joseph Huggins Barker - Head - Occ Solicitor - bn 1837 Finchley, Middlesex; Rebecca Mary Barker - Wife - bn 1837 Whitby, Yorkshire; Joseph William Barker - Son - bn 1866 Whitby, Yorkshire; Isabel Mary Barker - Dau - bn 1869 Salford, Lancs; Hilda Maria Barker - Dau - bn 1872 Salford, Lancs.
