Hi, Joan I assume you must have checked the actual microfiche records to be so certain about Emma. I took my information from the IGI via the Hugh Wallis batch numbers. There were only two Kirkland marriages in the relevant period, and only one William, definitely married to Elizabeth Olson. So far as I can see, this William is likely to be the one baptised 24 Oct 1802, parents William Kirkland and Mary. That William could in turn be the son of William Kirkland and Sarah, baptised 30 Dec 1768. William and Elizabeth had other children as well, as I noted. The last in the Church record was Mary, bapt. 30 June 1839. As this is after the start of national registration, you might get a bit more information about her. The Belper death implies a birth in 1829 or 1830, but I haven't looked at Belper in much detail. The William Kirkland there was baptised at the Wesleyan Methodist 7 Feb 1830, parents William Kirkland and Sarah. They should be different from the William Kirkland and Sarah Emberton married St Alkmund, Derby 14 Aug 1827, since they would normally be expected to be William and Sarah the parents of the William Kirkland bapt St Alkmund 25 Oct 1829, and who died 21 May 1836, according to IGI. Some of the Derby and Belper Kirklands appear in business directories, but I must confess I couln't find the Spondon ones in a directory. However, I still think they might be a possibility. I see from the later thread that you intend to follow up William Kirkland and Elizabeth Banks, married 3 June 1816 at St Werburgh, Derby. THey are certainly possibilities, although the Hugh Wallis batch numbers don't look too promising. Best wishes Stan |
