Thanks April - I did know of this site but i appreciate the suggestion. What i really want to do is type in the village or county name on GC and see how many other people have connections with it but I don't think it is possible without also inputing a surname which defeats the purpose of what i want to do! C'est la vie Alison |

yes but you need to go into a name first, click on name summary on the left hand side, then go into the surname you want to search, this will bring up another list of options to search by and then you can search by place of birth. |

Hi there Can anyone tell me if it is possible to do a place search without inputing a surname? I am very interested in the village of Wing in Buckinghamshire as it is the source for my Page family tree. I have been through every name that i have on the tree who married in and searched under both Wing and Buckinghamshire. This has given me a good number of leads but it took some time. If i had just been able to search by place it would have been a lot quicker. Has anyone else found this out? Perhaps it would release too many names and overload the system - especially as not everyone is researching a small village. Thanks for your help if it is possible. Alison |
