I hope people find it useful - I had completely forgotten about my grandparents saying that some of my ancestors are on there. I used to play in Victoria Park which is just behind the Memorial and we always used to go up and read the inscriptions looking for our names. I didn't know they had a site until today and thought it might benefit those who do not have access to the monument itself. At least those people will never be forgotten. Take Care, -Kat

What a wonderful site - so clear. Woldn't it be wonderful if all major towns completed the same exercise. Well worth a look, even if you have no relatives from the area. Very touching too, especially the casualty list for civilians. Thanks for the info. Jacqui

If you have Portsmouth ancestors who died in WW1 and may be listed on Army or Navy memorials then try this site. It has a complete list of names and inscriptions as taken from the Guild Hall Square Cenotaph in Portsmouth. http://www.memorials.inportsmouth.co.uk/city-centre/cenotaph.htm
