I think I have found grandfathers parents

Thank you as well Tracey. Just needed some fresh eyes I think. It never occurred to me that Annie could be a short form of Joanna. Should have thought of it, as my mums name is Joan. |

Grandfather`s birth certificate gave his parents as Charles Frederick Ball and Annie Ball, formerly George. Martin found a marriage for Charles Frederick Balls and Joanna George. I have investigated further. Mum told me that grandfathers mother died when he was 14, in Hull. As he was born Nov 1901, I looked on 1837 at year 1916, and lo and behold, I found a death entry for a Joanna Balls in Sculcoates, Hull, aged 42. So that checks out. Needs more checking to make sure, but I think I am getting somewhere. Thanks again Martin. Your sharp eyes have probably saved my sanity. |
