Hi Christine, I've had a look for you on 1891 but didn't find anything on the census that matched. The only one that came up with a census entry was Joe Rouse but he was aged 11. I did find the following in the BMD part if your interested. Joe Rouse - Marriage Year 1892 Qtr. December, District Shipston on Stour, Vol 6d page 1185 - probable wife - Emma Maria Taylor Caroline Surch - Marriage Year 1890 Qtr. June, District Chipping Norton, Vol 3a Page 1337 Clara J. Surch - Marriage Year 1866 Qtr December, District Chipping Norton, Vol 3a Page 1224a - probable husband George Webb Sussana Surch - Nothing |

Christine, Just looking at your 3 people with the name, Surch. Judging by their ages, wouldn't Surch be their maiden name? Can't find them under Surch on the 1891 census or 1881 census. There are a couple of Surchs on the 1881 census, born in Little Compton. They are: John SURCH, b.1825, Head, Farm Labourer Hannah SURCH, Wife, b. 1816 Jane SURCH, b. 1811, Head, Ag Lab's Widow, born Barton-on-Heath, Warwickshire Solomon SURCH, b. 1851, Son, Ag Lab Andy. |
